Bali Kecak and Fire Dance

You can watch Kecak and Fire dances in several places in Bali. One of them is located near the Uluwatu Temple. Uluwatu Temple is a sacred Hindu temple built on a cliff bank with a height about 97 meters above sea level. On the East side of the temple there is a special stage for Kecak and Fire dance performance. The dance start at 18.00 until 19.00 for first show and 19.00 until 20.00 for second show. However, you must arrive early to buy a ticket which is very limited. So do not come late. This stage is very strategic location, precisely on a cliff with ocean views, and incredible views of Temple especially at sunset. Therefore has its own charm, so many tourists are willing to queue to get tickets so they can watch the Bali Kecak and Fire Dance.

What is the story behind of this dance performance?

Kecak is a Balinese Hindu Dance taken from the Ramayana puppet story. This dance and musical drama was developed in the 1930s in Bali, Indonesia. Since the dance form was performed by men, the first female kecak group began in 2006.

This dance performed in the form of a circle with a total 50 – 100 people wearing black and white colour of Sarong around their waist, while the upper body is left naked. In the center of the circle is a traditional Balinese coconut oil lamp.

First they move their bodies rhythmically to the left and right. Say the words “chak ke-chak ke-chak ke-chack” then move their hands and arms. This performance depicts the battle of the Ramayana, where in this story Hanuman is the leader of the monkeys and help prince Rama against the evil Ravana.

The story in this dance begins with the exile of Sita and Rama in the Forest of Dandaka. Then a golden deer that appeared was a disguise from Ravana. Then the abduction of sprott by Ravana, the battle between Ravana and Jatayu, Hanuman’s search for Sita, and ended with a battle Rama and Ravana.

Kecak and Fire Dance Show Opening Hour and Ticket Fee

The Uluwatu Kecak and fore dance show runs from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. for the first session. The second session runs from 7 to 8 p.m. The ticket counter is located on the east side of the Luhur Uluwatu temple. The counter opens at 4:30 p.m. for those who want to buy tickets on-site. Tickets are limited, so many tourists and tour guides wait from 1 p.m. to get the first show. Kecak ticket prices will increase to IDR 160.000 per person at the beginning of 2026.

10:00 – arrive at Telaga Waja Rafting Starting point
10:15 – Enjoy your welcome drink and then filling out a form or registering. Then given a briefing by a professional guide
10:30 – Enjoy 2.5 – 3 hours Telaga Waja Rafting
13:00 – Finish and then take shower
13:30 – Enjoy your Indonesian buffet lunch
14:00 – Finish for lunch and then our driver will take you to Uma Pakel Bali Swing which is located in Tegalalang village
15:00 – Arrive at Uma Pakel Bali Swing and then enjoy your time for Bali Swing and take pictures with bird nest and others
