Tirta Gangga Water Palace Karangasem is one of the interesting tourist attractions in the eastern region of Bali after Lempuyang temple, Taman Ujung, Amed, Candi Dasa beach, Virgin Beach, Crystal beach and Blue Lagoon. Will take 2,5 hours driver from Denpasar airport and around 2 hours drive from Ubud village.

History

Tirta Gangga Water Palace Karangasem literally means holy water from the Gangga River which is attribute to the Hindu community in Bali. This name refers to the water palace that was built in 1946 by the king of Karangasem named Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem Agung.

This name is also used to refer to areas that include water palace and the surrounding fertile countryside. This water palace was built in 1946 by king of Karangasem, but was destroyed by the eruption of Mount Agung in 1963 and rebuild on an a 1.2 hectare land that extends from east to west in the rice fields. There are 3 buildings that dominate the character of this palace, there are statues, ponds and garden areas. All of these buildings have an implied meaning in them.
